I didn’t find these particularly easy to figure out, and they do seem to work only on certain widths of doors and jams, so not really universal. I wouldn’t bet my life on them…

When I travel, safety is my top concern, so I always take a portable door lock. It’s small and easy to carry but strong. If I end up staying at a motel, I put it on the door before sleeping. It goes into the space between the door and the frame, so most doors work with it. This keeps the door shut tight, so I feel safe and sleep well.
